Advertising Rates

CTV is offering very competitive advertising rates. The channel targets principally the mid- to lower LSMs because the majority of Cape Town's population falls within these parameters. However it does carry programming that appeals the higher LSMs too.

Viewership

The station broadcasts from a central studio and production facility based in Observatory, linked by a microwave link to a transmitter located on the Tygerburg Hill. The broadcasting footprint encompasses all those areas that that are in .line-of- sight. of the transmitter for a 100km radius, including all the areas that lie between Atlantis, Stellenbosch, the City Bowl and Muizenburg (see our coverage map), with an estimated population of 2,5 million people.

Audience research by SAARF showed that for the period July-November 2009, Total Reach was 282 410 (unique viewers per month), Rate (daily average at any one time) was 6 520 and Coverage (cumulative total) was
1 406 850.

Based on viewership figures from national broadcasters, the channel has the potential to reach a viewership of just over one million people in prime time.

Standard Terms and Conditions

  1. Rates quoted are for commercials of 30 seconds duration. Duration less than 30 seconds are calculated as follows:

    Long duration commercials are calculated pro rata at 30' rate.

  2. The cancellation surcharge is as follows:
    Commercials cancelled within 0-15 working days before broadcast 100%
    Commercials cancelled within 16-21 working days before broadcast 50%
  3. Rates quoted include agency cost unless otherwise stated.

  4. Rates quoted exclude V.A.T.

  5. Product exclusivity is not guaranteed within commercials breaks.

  6. In the event of CTV failing, for any reason whatsoever, to broadcast a commercial in terms of any agreement between the advertiser and CTV, the advertiser shall be entitled only to the rescheduling of the commercial for broadcast in a suitable time slot at no extra charge to the advertiser.

  7. Annual negotiated deals must be committed in writing and signed by both parties before negotiated terms come into effect.

  8. The advertising agency that enters into this contract on behalf of the advertiser warrants that it has the necessary authority from the advertiser to do so, such agency shall be liable to pay CTV any amounts owed by the advertiser in terms of the agreement.

  9. The advertiser agrees that the broadcast of the commercial is subject to the provision of the Advertising Standard Authority's code and CTV.s programming policy, and that CTV is entitled to withdraw any advertisement which, in CTV's sole discretion, may be deemed to be contrary to the code of which may be otherwise expose CTV to any criminal or civil proceedings.

  10. If the advertiser refuses or fails to pay any amounts due to CTV in terms of this agreement CTV shall be entitled to cancel this agreement forthwith, to instruct CTV to cease further broadcasts of the advertiser's commercials and to recover any outstanding amounts owing to CTV which shall become immediately payable on such refusal or failure to pay.

  11. The advertiser shall not be entitled to cede any of its rights in terms of this agreement to third parties.

  12. The advertiser hereby indemnifies and hold CTV and their respective employees harmless against any claims for damages to property or personal injuries, infringement of copyright, defamation, losses, legal costs or claims otherwise howsoever arising out of, in respect of or as a result of the broadcasting of commercials covered by this agreement or use of by the advertiser of facilities provided by CTV. Should any claim be made against CTV, it shall entirely be in their discretion as to whether they admit or deny any such claims and CTV reserve the rights to defend any such claim brought against it and to proceed to the final end and determination thereof and to lodge any appeal or appeals to any court or courts, to which they have the right to do so and in addition shall have the right to compromise, abandon or settle any claim made against them and to nominate legal representation and to brief counsel in connection therewith, and the advertiser shall be liable for and shall pay all costs, charges and expenses necessary and reasonably incurred by CTV in connection therewith or otherwise in addition to all sums of money whether for damages, costs, charges, expenses or otherwise which CTV may be ordered to pay to the said plaintiff in the said actions on the advice of their legal representative and counsel.

  13. It is recorded that CTV reserves the right to change scheduled programming or rates as and when such changes is deemed by CTV to be significant with respect to, for example, either the rating or audience profile thereof. The advertiser shall have no claim against CTV in respect of programme or rate changes.

  14. The advertiser is responsible to provide on-air advertising and promotional material no later than 7days prior to broadcast. The advertiser will provide artwork for logos and other advertising material required by CTV for promotional purposes within 15 days of signing this agreement.
