Open Studio
The show focuses on issues and topics that affect the people of Cape Town. For those community members who aspire to be the next Capetonian Oprah Winfrey or Larry King, the show provides a platform whereby they can bring in one or two guests to be interviewed on the topics of their choice.
New presenters come in each week and try their hand at hosting a talk show; if they do well they get an opportunity to host more episodes. And in the long term, successful presenters who prove their dedication and committment may get the chance to host their own, branded talk shows, where funds can be raised for this purpose.
Open Studio gives members of the Cape Town community an opportunity to see and experience the exciting world of television, from behind-the-scenes production right up to being in front of the camera.
You don’t have to have any previous television experience to be a presenter on Open Studio, as CTV's professional staff are on hand to offer advice and assistance.
Presenters come up with their own topics, do their own research and invite their own studio guests. Local celebrity guests such as Claire Phillips and Yolanda Yawa are some of the many people who have had an opportunity to be interviewed on the Open Studio shows.
Talk show topics range from music and dance to human rights issues, sport and a lot more - any topic is fair game on Open Studio, except for religious matters, which are covered by CTV's religious programme slots.
The discussions are exciting, attention-grabbing and thought provoking, which makes Open Studio a great platform for members of the community to tackle issues that are of concern to Capetonians.
