How To Tune In
CTV is a free-to-air channel - in other words anyone in our transmitter range can tune into us without the need for a set-top box or a decoder.
You will find Cape Town TV on the UHF band. Press Menu on your TV or remote control; go to the Search function; let it search on the UHF band; press Stop when you see the Cape Town TV channel; Store the channel.
If you own an M-net decoder, you can find CTV on Channel 38.
- Select an unused channel on the decoder by pressing one of the number buttons on the remote control that is not linked to a broadcast channel;
- On the remote control, press the button marked with two arrows pointing in opposite directions;
- On the decoder you will see a flashing number (indicating the channels) between 26 & 64;
- The numbers can be adjusted with the Up and Down arrows on the remote control;
- CTV can be found by changing the flashing number (channel) to 38;
- Finish the process by pressing the Store button (the one with two arrows pointing towards one another)
Our signal is coming to you from the Tygerberg transmitter site - so if you can see Tygerberg hill and your antenna is pointing that way it will be plain sailing - all you need to do is to retune your television set. Other areas close by may also be able to receive our signal which is on the UHF band, and beaming to the greater Cape Town area.
See the coverage map below to find out whether you will be able to receive the signal (blue area on map). Those areas not in line-of-sight of Tygerberg Mountain will not be able to receive it - e.g. areas such as Camps Bay, Llundudno, Hout Bay, Stellenbosch, Malmsbury etc. will not receive it.
